Gotta Love Vail!

Love how BIG the mountain is!
Love how there are NO lift lines if you know how to work the mountain!
Love the swift lifts!
LOVE the friendly Coloradans!

Nothing really to hate about Vail....except the 1 day lift ticket price....not a problem if you have a pass! It MORE than pays for itself.

Highly recommend it....but want to continue to keep it a secret! : )

Vail is enormous

I'm somewhat reluctant to comment at all on Vail since the place is enormous and I've only skied there one day but I think I was able to get a feel for some of Vail's good and bad points.

Vail has a lot of variety trail-wise. There are plenty of bumps, groomed runs, and bowls to keep you occupied. The back bowls must be amazing on a powder day. The best runs I had during my one day were in Blue Sky Basin.

Vail has a fun base village with some great bars and restaurants. There are also many shops where you can buy expensive leather goods with fringe on them if that is your thing.

There were two drawbacks during my day: it was a bit crowded and the snow quality was not that great. I skied there on a Friday in early March of '06. I've been told that the weekends are usually pretty busy. That winter I believe was a record year quantity-wise but many of the trails had a lot of crud. It was sunny and temperatures were almost hitting 50 degrees which was why the snow was poor in parts of the mtn, particularly in the back bowls.

It's also worth mentioning that Vail is close to several other resorts so you can ski a few different places on the same trip.
