WILL PLEASE THE EXPERTS

ONE OF MY FAVORITE MOUNTAINS IN UTAH. SNOWBIRD HAS A GOOD VARIETY OF TERRAIN WITH A TON OF EXPERT ONLY RUNS. ITS A BIG ENOUGH MOUNTAIN THAT ON A GOOD POWDER DAY IT DOESN'T GET SKIED OUT TO QUICK. WITH THE ADDITION OF THE NEW HIGH SPEED QUADS IT ALLOWS YOU TO GET AROUND THE MOUNTAIN EASY. A BIG IMPROVMENT FROM THE PAST. THE NEW TUNNEL ALLOWS EASY ACCESS TO MINERAL BASIN AND THE VIEWS FROM THE TOP ARE THE BEST IN UTAH. YOU CAN BUY A LIFT ONLY PASS (NO TRAM) AND SAVE SOME MONEY AND STILL ACCESS THE WHOLE MOUNTAIN VERY EASY. FOR ADVANCED AND EXPERT SKIERS THIS MOUNTAIN WILL NOT DISAPPOINT.

Outstanding

Amount of snow this mountain receives is unbelievable. Probably best place to go early in the season. Terrain is very challenging and will test the most experienced boarder or skier. Back side of mountain is great. Very easy to get to from Salt lake city, 40 min ride from airport.

Nightlife is non-existant, absolutely nothing going on. People that go to snowbird, go for the boarding and skiing.

Highly recommended. Prices are reasonable, especially early and late in the season.

Not recommended for novice, not too much green terrain. Not a good place to learn.

Great Snow

Snowbird was amazing. There was a crazy amount of powder. With an annual snowfall of 500 inches you can't go wrong at Snowbird and Alta. That being said I would only recommend this mountain to advanced intermediates or better. The green territory is small to non-existent and there are few blues other than the catwalks. I'd recommend spending your time in mineral basin which has wide open runs so crowding isn't an issue. Also, try the Snowbird/Alta pass to get a taste of both mountains.

Unbelievable snow, great for advanced skiers

Over the 3 days we were at Snowbird they got almost 3 feet of snow. We woke up on the first day to the sound of avalanche blasting rattling our hotel room. From what I've heard since, this is a pretty typical Snowbird experience. :)

From my perspective as a solid intermediate skier, Snowbird was incredible. The powder was more than I'd ever skied in, and it allowed me to ski harder runs than I would have been able to otherwise. I'm not sure how the mountain would be for beginners and less confident intermediates... it seems like you'd be very limited in what you'd be able to ski. However, the Gad 2 lift was closed when we were there, so we weren't able to get at a good chunk of the intermediate terrain.

Overall, I'd recommend Snowbird without hesitation to any advanced/expert skier, or to any intermediate skier who wants to be challenged. For others, I'd say get the Snowbird/Alta combination pass so you can head over to Alta and ski some easier cruisers if you need to.
