This is, bar none, the steepest mountain in the country! After skiing at such places as Jackson and Silverton (skied everything those mountains could throw at me) Crested Butte still remains the ONLY mountain that has runs that I have hiked away from. Bodybag Glades, Highlife, Spellbound Glades, Slot Rocks, Cesspool, Sock it to Me ridge, pretty much the entire Third Bowl but especially Hourglass, the list goes on and on of runs that you better have your stuff together if you are even thinking about dropping in. For real steeps and challange there is simply no other mountain that can match it in the lower 48! In addition to the sick terrain, it has the friendliest people. No Vail/Aspen "I'm richer than you" attitudes at CB. Everyone treats you as one of the family of snow-riders, which we all are! The staff is professional and the people are mountain style curtious! Combine the friendliness of the people and the sick steeps, and it's the best place to be!!!! |
