Don't Bother

With so many other great places to ski in Utah, I'd skip this one. Didn't enjoy it the first time two years back. Didn't like it any better last year, so I'm done.

Trail ratings are weird -- was on blues that were like double blacks and others that were flatter than flat beginner runs.

Hard area to get around and figure out. And high percentage of stupid snowboarders -- not a dig at snowboarders. Just the dumb ones. I got hit HARD twice in one day by out of control boarders. While standing in the lift line no less!!!!

Eastern Style Trails, Western Style Snow

Liked the ability to get lost and away from the crowds. Overall a great ski area once we figured out how to get around.

Canyons - really a Diamond that needs polishing

I really love the terrain off of the 9990 lift. There are bumps, trees chutes and steeps - everything an advanced skier craves. I particularly love to go all the way through the gates to skier's left and ski all the way down to Red Pine lodge. It's steep, long and has many small chutes to navigate. It's especially awesome on a powder day!

Other areas of the mountain that are nice are runs off the Super Condor lift, anything off Peak-5 lift, especially - "The Abyss" - this is a great steep tree run. The problem with The Canyons as was pointed to by others is infrastructure. The gondola at the base is a bottleneck. They really should upgrade the old double-chair "Golden Eagle" to a high speed six pack to get more people on the mountain sooner. Also, runs off Golden Eagle are awesome! I would do laps there if the lift were faster.
